Concert Band

The Taylor High School Concert Band is a 9-12 wind ensemble. The group performs at school concerts, music festivals, community functions, and more. The band performs a wide-variety of music, ranging from different styles and different time periods of composition. Students are placed in a "chair" through an audition process and have opportunities throughout the year to challenge up a chair to progress in the band. Students are graded on a weekly participation grade, playing tests, and written assessments. All performances are mandatory. Every section of band participates in pep band and OMEA Solo and Ensemble competition.

There are three different sections of band offered within the same ensemble:

  • Concert Band- Entry level section for students not involved in marching band.
  • College Prep Band- Students who are involved in band and marching band.
  • Honors Band- All previous criteria plus additional assignments. This section is a weighted honors course.
The Taylor High School Symphonic Band qualified for OMEA State Contest for the first time in over 15 years in 2017 after earning a 'Superior' rating at OMEA District Contest.
